Privacy policy

Lantern doesn't collect, store or share any personal information. This page says what that means.
The app
- No collection. Lantern has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and uses no third-party code that does. It has no servers, and makes no network requests of its own.
- Your events and photos stay on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also kept in your own private iCloud account so they appear on your other devices. That is Apple's CloudKit, in your account. I can't see them.
- Sharing. If you invite someone to an event, Apple's iCloud sharing sends it to them. It goes between your iCloud accounts, not through me.
- Photos. Lantern uses the system photo picker, so it sees only the photos you choose, and asks for no photo permission.
- Contacts and Calendar. If you start an event from a birthday in Contacts, Lantern reads only the contact you pick, through the system's picker. If you start one from Calendar, Lantern asks for calendar access, reads the year ahead to show you the list, and keeps only the event you add. This stays on your device.
- Notifications are created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Children. Lantern collects no information from anyone, including children.
On the App Store, Lantern's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics, and has no tracking or advertising. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. I don't use them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will too. The app will never collect information without telling you first.
